Security

MetCredit has implemented several layers of security mechanisms, technologies and processes in order to provide our clients with secure access to their accounts and information online.

Encryption

Encryption is currently the most effective way to securely transmit data over the Internet. Web browsers use encryption to enable safe online communications and transactions between you and the web sites that you interact with. Stronger levels of encryption make it more difficult for unauthorized individuals to intercept your online activities.

The two most common levels of encryption used by web browsers today are 40-bit and 128-bit. You will be required to use a 128-bit browser to access many secure areas of our web site.

Security Mechanisms

We use several layers of security mechanisms to ensure that your dealings with MetCredit are safe and secure. Sophisticated monitoring and reporting processes, as well as prevention, detection and response procedures are all part of MetCredit’s security mandate. Emerging technologies and new advances in security are also continuously evaluated, and we employ the latest industry best practices to ensure the integrity of our systems and the safety of your information.

Secure Login

For your protection, we require that you log into secure areas of our web site using your client number (or username) and password. Your password should be kept confidential at all times, and is used to help verify your identity before you are permitted access to the accounts and information that you have placed with MetCredit. If you are unable to provide the correct password, you will not be granted access.

After successfully logging in, your web browser will establish a secure SSL connection between your computer and our web servers. This will allow you to communicate with us privately and to conduct online transactions safely. To make sure your browser has established a secure connection, look for a security symbol located at the bottom left or right hand corner of your browser. You may also check the address bar of your browser. If the Web site address starts with "https://" rather than the standard "http://", the session is secure.

Timed Logout

To further protect against unauthorized access to your accounts, our systems are designed to automatically terminate a secure online session if extended inactivity is detected. If your session terminates, you will have to login again to continue your activities.
